The Anna Fund (www.annafund.com) is a charity named in honor of Anna Olivia Healey who has family ties to Rensselaer, Indiana. Anna lost her battle with Neuroblastoma in 2006 but the charity continues to raise money to help research Neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer and also to help families who have a loved one with Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma accounts for only 8 percent of all cancers, but is responsible for 15 percent of all cancer-related deaths. Found mostly in children under the age of five, Neuroblastoma generally originates in the adrenal gland or other sites of similar nerve tissue. Diagnosed in between 500 and 1,000 children each year, its cause is still unknown.
Since it's creation in 2002, the A.N.N.A. 501(c)(3) public charity has raised more than $200,000.00 for Neuroblastoma research and families coping with the disease.
Castongia’s is a proud sponsor of the annual ANNA charity motorcycle ride held in Rensselaer.
